About this car
This 1986 420SEL is offered on eBay by desertprivatecollection in Palm Desert, CA. The asking price is $9,950. The car is finished in Blue over Gray, an automatic gearbox, power from a 4.2L Gas V8 engine. The odometer shows 112,572 miles. On a W126, check for rust around the rear window and in the battery tray, and test the vacuum-operated door locks and the climate controls.
What the photos show
- Dark blue paint is glossy and even with bright chrome, so no respray bill is visible
- Front valance under the grille is scuffed, so budget for a small bumper-area paint repair
- Dashboard top looks clean with no cracks showing, though the wood is faded pale on the passenger side, so budget for wood refinishing if the mismatch bothers you
- Door cards look clean and complete, so no door trim bill is visible
- Engine bay is dusty with a grimy air cleaner housing, so budget for a deep clean and service rather than visible repairs
- Front seats are only glimpsed at the edge of one photo, so can't judge the seats properly
- No underside photos appear in the sampled photos, so can't judge the underside at all
Money: at $9,950 the glossy paint and clean dash support the price — the open questions are the unseen seats and underside, not the visible body
