1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SE

• Dark blue paint is glossy and the panels look straight in the driving photos, all taken at a distance and in motion — no paint or body budget from these photos, but close flaws can't be judged.
• Chrome on the grille and front and rear bumpers looks bright at a distance, no damage shows — no re-chrome money needed from these photos.
• Convertible top is up and taut in one photo and the boot cover sits smooth with the top down in the others — no top budget from these photos.
• Dash wood is glossy in the close-ups, gauges and radio look clean and complete — no dash or wood budget from these photos.
• Dark leather seats are only seen at the edges and headrests, where they look smooth — can't judge wear or cracking, hold back a leather budget.
• Wheels with body-colour hubcaps and thin white rings are blurred in the moving shots — can't judge tires or wheel condition, hold back a tire budget.
• No engine bay or underside photos in the sample — neither can be judged, hold back money for both inspections.

Money: At $650,000 the glossy paint, bright chrome and glossy dash wood show no obvious spend in these photos, but with no engine, underside or close seat photos, hold serious money back until those are inspected in person.
