1960 Mercedes-Benz 220SE

• the grey-beige paint looks glossy and the body looks straight, so no paint money needed on what is visible
• the chrome bumpers and grille surround look bright, so no chrome bill
• the black soft top looks taut, but its rear window is yellowed and cloudy, so budget for a window or top
• the red leather seats look glossy and well shaped with no tears showing, so no retrim cost
• the dashboard has trim and glovebox pieces missing around the radio area, so sourcing those parts is a real cost on a Ponton
• the steering wheel rim looks wrapped and cracked, so a wheel restoration is another bill
• the red door card looks creased and tired, so allow some trim money
• the trunk floor looks black-painted and dusty with no rust breaking through in the photos, so no big trunk bill showing
• the engine bay looks untidy with corrosion on the exhaust manifold and dull alloy, so budget a mechanical recommission rather than just a detail
• can't judge the underside — no underside photos in the set I viewed, so a lift inspection matters at this age and price

Money: at $39,950 the shiny paint and red leather carry it, but the missing dash pieces, cloudy top window and tired bay mean real spend on top of the price.
