About this car
Hemmings listing in Astoria, NY. Offered on Hemmings in Astoria, NY.
What the photos show
- black paint is peeling in patches on the rear doors and quarters, down to pale undercoat — a full repaint is real money on a car this size
- bumpers are dull painted metal with rust spots showing, so brightwork money is coming
- the black canvas top is intact up and folds down, one thing that may not need replacing
- green leather seats are worn, faded and stained, so a retrim decision — and its cost — is part of the purchase
- dash wood is tired and the gauges are aged, budget interior restoration, not just a clean
- engine bay is heavily surface-rusted — head bolts, generator and fittings all brown — so mechanical recommissioning money is certain even before anything is opened up
- whitewall tires are yellowed with age, a new set is an early bill
- only nine photos and no underside shot, so the frame and floors can't be judged from these photos
Money: at $167,500 you are paying for a rare, complete-looking pre-war cabriolet as a project — paint, brightwork, interior and mechanical recommissioning all still cost money on top, so the price only works as a restoration starting point.
