About this car
Hemmings listing in Beverly Hills, CA. Offered on Hemmings in Beverly Hills, CA.
What the photos show
- the white paint looks glossy and the panels look straight, but there is a paint chip with a rust speck at the headlight notch, so allow for a localised repair
- the chrome bumpers look bright and the whitewall tires suit the car, so no chrome or tire bill
- the black soft top looks taut but its rear window is cloudy and wrinkled, so budget for a window or top
- the matching hardtop is shown fitted and looks clean, which adds value
- the yellow-tan door card looks faded and stained at its edges, so allow trim money
- the odometer reads 44,079 miles, so price it on condition, not that number alone
- the engine bay is heavily corroded — peeling black coating and rust across both inner fenders, rusty linkage and a corroded coolant tank — so there is serious bay and possibly structural repair to pay for
- the spare hubcap is peeling and the jack is rusty, matching the bay's story
- can't judge the front seats — they are only seen through the hardtop glass in the photos I viewed, so their condition is unproven
- can't judge the underside — no underside photos in the set I viewed, and with this bay rust a lift inspection is essential before paying
Money: at $39,950 the pretty white paint hides the rustiest engine bay in this batch; the price only works if the corrosion is confined to the bay, which the photos cannot prove.
