What the photos show
- dark grey paint looks glossy and the side panels look straight in this single side view, no repaint obvious from here
- chrome trim and polished wheel covers look bright, no re-chroming obvious from here
- the soft top is down with a light-coloured boot visible, so you cannot judge the top fabric itself and a new top would cost real money
- grey interior is only glimpsed over the door, so you cannot judge the seats properly
- dash is not shown close up, so you cannot judge the wood or dash cracks
- engine bay is not shown, so you cannot judge the engine at all
- underside is not shown, so you cannot judge rust or leaks
Money: at the $26,700 sold price the one photo shows a tidy dark grey 380SL in profile, but the top, interior wear, engine and underside were all unseen, so the price rested on trust.
