About this car
This 1986 560SL is offered on eBay by kikiann727 in Webster, NY. The asking price is $24,900. The car is finished in Red over Tan, an automatic gearbox. The odometer shows 86,797 miles. The eBay title does not name the model; the car's VIN identifies it as a 560SL. On an R107, check the front subframe mounts and the soft-top well for rust, and on the V8 cars the timing-chain guides.
What the photos show
- Red paint looks glossy and straight all round, no repaint needed on what is shown.
- Chrome bumpers and grille look bright and clean, no re-chroming bill showing.
- Tan leather seats and door cards look excellent, no need to reupholster.
- Dash and console wood look good, with some fading on the console, no dash replacement needed on sight.
- Black soft top is shown up and looks clean and taut, no new top bill obvious.
- Matching red hardtop is shown separately on a stand and looks glossy, a plus you do not have to buy later.
- Engine bay is complete but the air cleaner is tarnished and the hood insulation is crumbling, small money to tidy, check the rest in person.
- Underside is dirty with surface rust on the exhaust and tank area, usable but budget a clean and check.
- Wheels are clean and tyres look good, no immediate spend showing.
Money: At $24,900 this is one of the tidier cars in this group — the visible spend is small tidying, so the price looks defensible if it drives as it looks.
